Moroccan Spice Recipe

When you decide to be more conscious of what you are putting in your body you realize just how much junk is in most highly processed/packaged foods!

I was awakened to this sad reality when I did my first Whole30 ta little over three years ago. I did not think it was necessary to check the ingredients of my favorite seasonings but I did just to be sure... Lo and behold, the second ingredient was sugar! Followed by monosodium glutamate (MSG), preservatives, artificial colors, and soy and corn derivatives (that are quite likely GMO). I was so disappointed!

(Each of the above-mentioned additives is linked to an article that explains why they should be avoided)

From that point on I started to buy pure, single ingredient herbs and spices and mix them together in a jar so I would have my favorite seasonings ready to use. One of the ones I use the most is this Moroccan Spice! It is a great seasoning for grilled chicken and roasted veggies.

  • 2 TB Cumin

  • 2 TB Ginger

  • 2 TB Salt

  • 1.5 TB Pepper

  • 1 TB Coriander

  • 1 TB Paprika

  • 1 TB Cayenne Pepper

  • .5 TB Chili Powder (Increase this to 1 TB if you like HOT)

  • 1 TB Allspice

  • 1 TB Cinnamon

  • .5 TB Cloves

  • .5 TB Garlic Powder

  • .5 TB Onion Powder

  • .5 TB Lemon Pepper

  • 1 TB Rosemary

  • 1 TB Thyme

  • .5 TB Mint

Put all your ingredients in a glass jar and shake it up! Feel free to double the recipe so it will last you longer!

  • 1KG (2.2LBS) Chicken Breast

  • 3 TB LK's Morrocan Seasoning

  • 1 TB Olive Oil

  • 1 TB Coconut Oil

  1. Slice the chicken into strips

  2. Drizzle 1 TB of olive oil over chicken

  3. Shake 3 TB of the seasoning over chicken

  4. Toss the chicken around until each strip is fully coated

  5. Heat 1 TB coconut oil in a pan over medium heat

  6. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through (time will depend on the thickness of the chicken strips)

  7. EAT or let cool and store in a glass container to eat later (Did someone say 'MEAL PREP'?!)
